Bones
A human skeleton is made up of 206 named bones which all differ in size, shape and function. The skeleton has a number of jobs to do including protection of our internal organs, storage of the mineral Calcium, providing attachment points for muscles via tendons and providing levers for movement. On the following diagram, you will find listed the major bones with which you need to be familiar.
Muscles
Without muscles, movement would be impossible! Muscles are the engines that allow our skeleton to move. Additionally, muscles also give us shape, control our posture and also generate heat when we are cold by making us shiver.
